Span with no ending? [closed]

I've searched for an answer to this question, but couldn't find one.

I'm working on researching and a profile, and have found a book with several different references on many different pages.  This is the first time I've needed to use span tags.  I've read the help page and it was pretty straight forward, and they seemd easy to create, but my bio check is telling me I have "span with no ending span."

I can't seem to find anything in the help section or G2G to help me resolve this, can anyone tell me what this means.

I have several more citations to make, and don't want to get too far into this without correctlng what I am doing wrong

Thanks!

Just add an ending span

So where you have  <span id="The Genealogist">   you need to follow that with </span>

So instead you have <span id="The Genealogist"></span>

If you look here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Category-Source you will find several examples.

Hi Kay,

I don't see any anchors on those pages, but yes, I can see the ending makes sense, just like ref tags.

There is no mention of this on the help page, Help Span Tags

I might leave a message to have that added.

Thanks for the reply!

Good catch Melissa on the Help Page missing the ending Span on all of the examples. Kay was correct on the part that is missing, which is seen, if you go to any of the examples.

I am sure Joe will rectify that.

I don't use span tags, but what you can do is put in the citation [linktopage page number or suitable reference to a person] so you end up with something like:
[link Mary's birth (or page 111)] [[link marriage(or page 210] etc.

edit typo. 2nd edit span tags aren't recommended because the majority of us (i.e. me) don't understand them.

Subsequent citations can have the 'author' or source title, with the new page number, once you have the complete citation listed.
