“A Brave Woman of the South”

Belle Boyd and her story of being a Southern Confederate spy is very interesting! The Union army took over the town she lived while her father was away fighting for the South. The town was under Union control for a few years but it appears Belle seized upon the moment keeping ears and eyes open for the right timing and when it did her message to General “Stonewall” Jackson of what she over heard from Gen. Banks  saved her town not to mention the army of Gen. “Stonewall” Jackson. The danger of listening to the Union leader and the ride to the southern army camp is a Brave feat for such a young woman. A hero in her own right!

Thank you

Her profile is deserving of attention and maybe your related to this brave woman!

Note: why buried in the north?

See Battle of Front Royal also
THE HISTORICAL MARKER DATABASE
and Front Royal Va.--The Union Army under Banks entering the town

Whatever happened to her fathers hotel. The Front Royal? Does it still exist?

See American Battlefield Trust excerpt “Learning that Union Major General Nathaniel Banks' forces had been ordered to march, she rode fifteen miles to inform Confederate Major General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson who was nearby in the Shenandoah Valley.”

It looks like she was buried there because she died there while on tour.  She had gone there to perform for an audience of members of the GAR and died of a heart attack.

Interesting woman. She married and her relationships are intriguing. She married northern men and she was an actress but gave lectures in the end of her life to support herself. The first husband didn’t fair so well

Edit: one husband was English born but she didn’t marry a southern man
