Connelly Ancestors Help Please

Hi I'm trying to work on my family history on my Biological fathers side. I met him once back in the '90s and then buried him last year. I am an only child from this marriage. I am looking for any information about CHARLES JAMES ROY CONNELLY Born abt 1913 in SOUTH GRAFTON, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA. CHARLES JAMES ROY CONNELLY married ELIZABETH MARY SMITH on the 20th January 1944 in GRAFTON, NEW SOUTH WALES. ELIZABETH was born abt 1925 in COFFS HARBOUR, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA.

NSW BDM's will let you purchase his birth certificate since it was registered in 1913. Use a transcription agent (links on the bottom that page) once you have the details (it's cheaper and faster). The registration number appears to be 18747/1913.

You should also be able to get their marriage certificate the same way. This will give you the names of his parents and possibly where they were born.

This is a good start.

He may have served in WWII. In which case look him up in the National Archives at www.naa.gov.au. If you find him you can apply to have his service record digitised (for a fee, of course) unless it has already been done.
