Why is the profile of a living President marked with the highest level of privacy? I would think the common info known by the public would be visible. Is this policy?

The issue has been covered a number of times on G2G.

I wonder why the G2 question searcher didn't find it when I asked?. Also, where's the index of what's supposed to be asked where? I don't want to post in the wrong place again.

Thanks for sending me the link.
Thanks for the link. I see that the question was covered & there are lots of opinions but I don't really see an answer or did I miss it? Wouldn't surprise me if I did. Did they ever send an answer directly to the project that I might not have seen? I completely understand privacy but not secrecy. I can't even see a name. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
If the person is your relative you can contact the U.S. Presidents Project and ask to be added to the trusted list.
Thank you for that info. I'll do that!

Sorry Lucy, I should have included the original notice and explanation....

All profiles of living people, famous or not, are private.

You an see a lot of mine. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Wilson-42454&public=1

You can't even see the name on the President file I'm looking for. Why have a profile that only someone in a special project can see? I'm related and would like to tie the family all together. I get privacy but not compete secrecy?

if you create a profile for yourself you have the ability to control what others can see - lots, or very little.  Most of us are here to connect our family to the larger world tree, so we want to share our information with others. Even if we have the authority to do that for other living people - our own immediate family members for example - Wikitree has chosen to err on the side of privacy.  That's just the way it is.
That makes sense. So it is WT policy to hide all public people completely? They must be following EU law.
This is an international site with users from all over the world so it is affected by EU rules.  It isn’t whether someone is public or not, it’s whether they are living or not, and if living, are they a Wikitree member.  If someone is living and not a member of Wikitree, then they are automatically  private.
