Hi Trevor,

Thank you for joining the Mighty Oaks for the Connect-a-Thon. The 65 members who joined our teams were awesome. Our two teams added 12,905 profiles over the weekend. The Branches Team came second and the Roots Team came forth in the overall scores. Both teams were also in the top ten in the normalised scores. I hope you enjoyed it and will be joining us in April when we do it all over again.

Hello Trevor, I hope it is alright that I've had a look at your family tree. Although WikiTree says we are cousins by marriage I think we are actually cousins by a blood link. It seems to me that your mother and you are direct descendants of Edward Barnard and Mary Gastineau who are my 4x great-grandparents. I had not realised that - nor that your mother and mine were both Mollie/Molly! My mother's official name was Margaret but her family pet name was always Molly. It may have been a Barnard family thing: there were Marion (Polly) and Dorothy (Dolly) and in similar manner people say Sarah Barnard was known as Sally too.

Hi Trevor, concerning Martha Spence Spence-804 I think we need to disconnect her from the current parents. Could you check my reasoning? The simple reasons: her proposed mother named her heiresses, and Martha was not one of them. Marrying in 1860 would imply she is much younger than her sisters, and I considered whether she might be a daughter of Peter Andrew Spence's son with the same name. HOWEVER, most importantly the marriage record being references names her father as John according to Ancestry.com, and they have a scan of the register available which proves that to be correct.

[ADDED: I note this because you recently added that marriage as a source. But I will also contact the person who originally added Martha.]

Thank you your answer about the John Singer Sargent paintings and the Leighton who was director of the Tate Gallery - not the Sandemanian Leighton afterall, but I thought it was worth looking at.

Apprently John Singer Sargent and Frederick Barnard (Fred) were friends. Sargent's paintings of Alice (Faraday as was) and that of their daughters, Marion and Dorothy, in Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose look beautiful. In the Tate Gallery report on that picture they say that Marion was known as Polly and Dorothy as Dolly. Some say that Sarah Faraday (Barnard as was) was called Sally. I always wondered why my mother, whose name was Margaret, was given the family pet name of Molly (usually for girls named Mary). I now think it may have been part of a family pattern - Sally, Polly, Dolly ... Molly! She had several forebears with the name Mary; I wonder if any of them were called Molly too.

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
