Ethel Green
Ethel Green was born April 26, 1889, in Nemaha County, Nebraska.^[1] She was the daughter of Ephraim Green (1845-1923) and Malinda Gertrude Asbel (1852-1930) and she is in their household in 1900, living in Glen Rock Precinct, Julian village, Nemaha county, Nebraska.^[2]

She married Ernest W. Ghumm on March 27, 1906 in Auburn, Nemaha county, Nebraska.^[3] He was born March 21, 1882. He was a bartender in eastern Montana. Because of his drinking problem, she divorced him in 1918. They had two children, Freda Thelma (1909-1997) and Bonnie Fay (Buzz) (1912-1992).

She returned to Nebraska to earn the $50 for the divorce. She worked in a hotel in Auburn to get the money. While there the flu epidemic hit and her niece, Opal Maxine South, died. She was one of only three people able or willing to attend the funeral. She married Henry (Hank) Egge on 27 May 1920 in Baker, Fallon county, Montana.^[4] She had met him while there a few years before. Freda married Mark Reid in 1928 in Butte^[5] and Fay (Buzz) married Dorothy Meritt in 1938.^[6]

Ethel and Hank had six children;

Avis married Roy Burns in 1938 in Anaconda, Deer Lodge county, Montana.^[8] Avis divorced Roy and then married Joseph Proxell in 1945.^[9]

They spent some time in eastern Montana, but lived many years in Butte.^[10][11] He was born December 12, 1888. Ethel died in Butte on January 26, 1944.^[12] Hank died there in 1966. Each of their bodies were buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Butte.^[13] They were members of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
