George William Whitfield was born in 1859 [1] in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, the son of John Whitfield and Isabella Hutchinson. [2]
In 1861 George was living in East Thickley, Durham with his parents and sister. His father was a railway engine stoker. [2]
In 1871 George was aged 12 living in Middlesbrough, the oldest of 5 children. [3]
His mother died in 1872 and his father remarried later that year.
George married Elizabeth Smith. Their marriage was registered in 1889 in Middlesbrough.[4]
In 1891 George was living with his wife in Middlesbrough. Like his father, he was an engine driver. [5]
George died at the age of 33. His death was registered in 1892 in Middlesbrough.[6]
