Biography

Jean Baptiste Teriau lived in Baye de Mordienne on Isle Royal in 1752, with his parents Pierre and Margueritte Guerin and 7 siblings who were all natives of Acadie. [1]

He married Marie Sirs[sic], daughter of Pierre Sirs and Magdeleine Poirier in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA on 27 Nov 1761, rehabilitated (Miquelon Register) on 11 Nov 1763. [2][3] and [4]and [5]

Residences

It seem likely that he and Marie were in Massachusetts at least from 1760/1761 (the time of marriage) to August 1763[6]

By Oct 16, 1763 Jean Baptiste and Marie had traveled to Miquelon as noted by the marriage record in Miquelon.

On 13 Nov 1767 parents and 4 children arrived at St Malo from St. Pierre and Miquelon on the schooner "La Creole."

On 16 Mar 1768 [4 months later?] this family returned to St. Pierre and Miquelon on the same ship.

On 6 Nov 1778 parents and 7 children arrived at St. Malo from St. Pierre and Miquelon on the brigantine "La Jeannette."[7]

Deported to La Rochelle in 1778 he "est revenu au pays" (returned to the country) and most members of his family settled at Iles-de-la-Madeleine.[8]

However, he is listed in the 1784 and 1785 Censuses of Miquelon, France where he was a fisherman and carpenter, according to White.[9]

Wife Marie died in Miquelon, France in 1787, so it seems unlikely that the country he returned to was Quebec.
