How to Join

It is not necessary that you be related to someone who lived in the state of Connecticut or live there yourself to join. Anyone with an interest is welcome! If you would like to participate, please do the following:

Templates

Using Connecticut Project Templates:

The main project template is to be used on profiles that should be managed by the Connecticut Project. Sometimes this is people important to Connecticut's history, or common ancestors who were early settlers (who don't fall into the Puritan Great Migration Project). All profiles that need Project Protection under the Connecticut Project should have the Project Box template and the Project as a manager. Type {{Connecticut}} which will give you:

This above template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project.

It is not for every single person from Connecticut. The following sticker might be used in that circumstance:

Goals

The overall goals of the United States Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in Connecticut and the other states in the union. To meet these goals:

1. Add Connecticut-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
2. If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
3. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
4. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
5. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
6. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.

4. Work on Connecticut's unconnected and unsourced profiles.
