Biography

Lydia Brown, born 30 Mar 1801 at Preston, Connecticut, was the first child of Lydia (Palmer) Brown (1776-1849) and Asher Brown (1769-1815) ^[1].

She married 20 Feb 1828 at Lisbon, Connecticut, Elijah Rose (1801 - 1870) ^[2], with whom she had 2 children:

1. Edwin Rose (1829-1880); married Louisa E. Fillmore
2. William Lathrop Rose (1833-1910); married 1) Eunice W. Browning; 2) Abby Jane Hazard Brown

Per U.S. census records, this family resided in 1850 in Norwich, Connecticut ^[3]. In 1860 they resided in Lisbon, Connecticut ^[4], and in 1870 they resided in Sprague, Connecticut ^[5].

In 1880, Lydia was enumerated in the household of her daughter-in-law, Louisa (Fillmore) Rose, in Sprague, Connecticut ^[6].

Lydia (Brown) Rose died 2 Jul 1886 ^[7] at Hanover, Connecticut. Her grave is in New Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, New London County, Connecticut, USA ^[8].

Cautionary note: An online database previously had this Lydia (Brown) Rose ^[9] and her family garbled with that of a certain Elijah and Mary (Saunders) Brown. It has been corrected.
