Biography

Elijah Rose was born in 1801 at Lisbon, New London County, Connecticut. He probably was the first child of Rebecca [Lathrop; 1775 - 1845; daughter of Esther (Branch) Lathrop (1748-1820) & Simeon Lathrop (1747-1826)] & Russel Rose [1772 - 1856; son of Peleg Rose (-1862)].

He married 20 Feb 1828, Lydia Brown, [1], with whom he had 2 children [2]:

  1. Edwin Rose (1829-1880); married Louisa E. Fillmore
  2. William Lathrop Rose (1833-1910); married 1) Eunice W. Browning; 2) Abby Jane Hazard Brown

Per U.S. census records, this family resided in 1850 in Norwich, Connecticut [3]. In 1860 they resided in Lisbon, Connecticut [4], and in 1870 they resided in Sprague, Connecticut [5].

Elijah Rose passed away in Sprague, Connecticut, 8 Oct 1886 [6]. His grave is in New Hanover Cemetery Hanover, New London County, Connecticut, USA [7].
