Propose 'civil victim' sticker

I am currently using the 'holocaust' sticker for this purpose, but it should be a fairly general sticker. Every conflict knows 'collateral damage'.victims.

I am not very well informed about use and structure of Stickers, but my thoughts are as follows:

Fields to be considered:

!Fate: options e.g. died, wounded, disappeard, hostage, prisoner, internment, concentration camp, death camp, labor camp

!Year: e.g. 1940

!Conflict: e.g. ww1, ww2, ww3, Vietnam

!Reason: (free text) e.g. bombing, fighting, starvation

!Where: (free text) e.g. Rotterdam, Gettysburg

!Text: (free text)

Example: (person) died in 1940 during WW2 during the german bombing of Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Why would you need a bunch of free text when you have a biography to explain the details?

If this is to be considered, the sticker should be as simple as possible and will not create a category. "Profile Stickers should have one sentence of text or one very short paragraph. It should never exceed 175 characters. 100-150 characters is preferred." the parameters added would have to be considered in order to fit into a very short paragraph or sentence.

Accepted.

Alternative: Could a duplicate of the Holocaust sticker be produced and renamed 'civil_victim'? No category link.
Good point.

So i drop the request for a lot of free text.

Is the sticker request then acceptable in the form as proposed?

I am not clear what problem this sticker would solve.

We have categories for events like [[:Category: 1940 Rotterdam Bombing, Netherlands, World War II]]. We have categories for where people died, and of what cause. We even have categories for [[:Category: World War I Civilian Casualties]]. This seems like an overbroad flag that, as Natalie says, could be handled in the free text of the biography.

I use both 'categories' and 'Stickers' and appreciate there is a link between them, but

Categories are:

- not visible in a profile unless in editing mode

- used to group profiles with a common denominator

- these groups can be viewed once in edit mode

- not very userfriendly for a non expert user

Stickers are:

- always visible in profiles when called up

- indicate something special of the profile

- Very usefull and userfriensly in profile views

Hence my request

Clear difference between stickers and categories.

I am not sure if a category is added in the background when the 'holocaust sticker' is used.

I therefore repeat my request for a civil_victim sticker (without free text)
