Biography

John was born in 1827 in Wales.

John married his cousin, Jennett (aka Jane/Janet/Jeanette) Morgan, on 23 Jul 1864 in Llangattock, Brecknockshire, Wales.^[1] They had 10 children: Robert, Annie Catherine, Harry Henry Morgan, Edward, Mary Jane, William, Gwendoline, Jennett, John Lewis, and Gabriel Secter, all born in Wales except the last who was born in Canada.

The family moved to the United States around 1878. Only Harry and Annie lived to become adults. Four of the children died within days of each other from diptheria when the family was living in East Saginaw, Michigan.^[2]

The family moved to Utah after living in Michigan for a number of years. The family went from being wealthy farmers in Wales to poor coal miners in Utah, according to family history.^[2]

In 1898, her husband John died while they were alone together on the farm in Utah. After his death, Jennett, went to live with their son Harry and his family for several years.^[2]

John was buried in the Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, Emery County, Utah.^[3]

John and his wife were mentioned in the death certificate of their son, Harry Henry Morgan Williams, in 1945.^[4]
