Biography

Edward WILLIAMS I ^[1] was born 27 July 1740 in New London, New London, Connecticut. He was the first child of Mary (Dyer) Helme and John Williams, their second marriages for both.

Edward Williams was Christened 27 JUL 1740.

He married Mary Stanton 15 Mar 1759 at Stonington, Connecticut ^[2]. They had 6 children.

Edward Williams died 04 Aug 1777 as per the DAR record. ^[3]

Per Wheeler (1900), Edward was a Revolutionary War soldier; died on board a British prison ship, and was interred at Newport, Rhode Island. Whereas these circumstances of his death may be accurate, he has a grave marker in Williams Cemetery, Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, USA [[1]].
