Biography
Bartley was born about 1842 in Monroe County, Tennessee. He is the son of William Williams and Triphena Millsaps. He died on 10 January 1865 in a Prisoner of War Camp in Ashville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. He is buried in Knoxville National Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.[1] Bartley and his brothers, George, Marion and William, all served in the Civil War. William was the only brother who survived the war.
