Biography

Pamela, daughter of William Bernard Watson and Dorothy (nee Walker) was born on 17th September 1917. Her birth was registered in the Hull district of in the December quarter of 1917. She was born in the Victoria Nursing Home, Park Street, her parents living at 343 Anlaby Road, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. Her father's occupation is given as "Captain East Riding R.G.A (Sugar Planter)", and his signature is W. Bernard Watson ^[1].

Pamela arrived aged 4 in London on 8 Oct 1920 from Durban South Africa on with her parents and brother John (aged 1), travelling 1st class on the Umvuma. Pamela's middle name is given as Cecil ^[2].

In 1938 Pamela again returned from South Africa, this time with John Watson (?her grandfather), aged 75. Her address is Elloughtonm Brough, Yorks. His address is Brough, E. Yorks. They travelled, first class, on the Edinburgh Castle. Pamela has no occupation, John is a J.P. ^[3].

Pamela appears to have married Alan Gregory King twice, first in the March quarter of 1939 in the Holderness registration district, Yorkshire ^[4] and then again in the September quarter of the same year, also in Holderness ^[5]. At the second marriage, Pamela's surname was indexed both as Watson and King.

Pamela, of 19 Seacliffe Road, Scarborough, died on 1st July 1986 leaving an estate of £121,254 ^[6]. Her death was registered in Scarborough ^[7]

Parents: several possible marriages.

Other children to Watson/Walker e.g. Gertrude are children of a police sergeant - so seem unlikely (ref 1911 census).
