Thanks for offer of Susan Houston. My list is already getting unwieldy.
I’m currently working on adding men listed at the Campbeltown War Memorial. One of them is the son of the daughter of the other Susan which drew me down the Houston rabbit hole
Thank you for your commitment to the England Project and its goals in 2023. Together we are making English WikiTree profiles the best they can be!

We are delighted to announce a new Profile Improvements Team namely the England Tangled Families Team which will be formed by merging the Arborists, Gedcoms and Unknown Teams,
As we know tangled families are created from old GEDCOM’s which cover many generations resulting in the need to merge profiles and having to disconnect others together with finding unknown spouses and family members.
The merging of the existing three teams into one exciting new team will hopefully reduce duplications and definitely will increase collaboration between you our experienced and dedicated members.
Team Leader for the England Tangled Families Team will be Fran Weidman who has agreed to manage the team bringing her excellent knowledge and experience from creating and managing the Unknowns Team together with Fran’s five year membership of the England Project.
Currently as a member of one or more of the named teams we are asking you to join our new amalgamated Tangled Families Team and letting us know by contacting Joan Williams or Malc Rowlands through Discord Messaging, England Project Google Group or Private WT Message if you want to join our new team.
HI Malc, I am happy to join the new team. I see myself as a worker bee that needs assignments. As an American I'm working hard on English geography. All that being said, where can I help.
I did not add the primary FaG source but did corrected the source formatting. The FaG source I did add was under "Research Notes". I just added "sameas=no" to that source. Lol I have learned a few things in 2 years.
On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!
The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in with you.
Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Would you like to join any other teams?
Also, we would really like to hear which team is currently your highest priority. If you are a member of more than one team, could you please rank them from highest priority to lowest? Thank you! If you don’t see yourself as being part of a team, please let us know.
We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.
On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again for all you do and we look forward to you continuing to be a part of our collaborative and fun Project!
Hi Steve, really nice when you reach out. I do belong to other projects:
GEDI
PIP
Cemeterist
Obviously these are not geographically limited. I do refer to England Project when working on an English profile. The Orphan Trail was immensely helpful when working with English profiles. My goal is to add as many sources to a profile as available to create a skeleton profile for me or someone to polish later.
I have been attempting to add place categories but either I am not entering the correct words in the correct order or there are not many categories for theses places.
Thanks for the feedback. Your ongoing support for Wikitree is very much appreciated.
If you have questions about the categorisation of England locations, I would recommend that you join us on Discord where one of our England Project members would be able to help. If you would like to do this, please let me know.
On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!
I'd also like to share our annual Newsletter with you. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading a bit about what has gone on in 2022 and what our Project has achieved.
The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members every 6 months just to make sure everything is going well. There's no need to reply to this message unless you have something you'd like to let us know about (e.g. if you would like to change your team choices or provide other feedback). We will be in touch with you again in the middle of next year when we do our annual check-in with project members.
On behalf of all the Leaders, I wish you a peaceful and productive 2023.
On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals over the past year. Every English profile we improve helps!
The England Project Leaders are currently doing our six-monthly check-in with all project members.
Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.
It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:
If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Jen, I am sad to say I have not been helpful to this project, primarily because my research skills for Ireland are poor to non existent. I have participated in the Orphan Trail, Tartan Trail and Profile Improvement Projects. The mentors guiding really improved my skills and built my confidence. I wish I could contribute more.
Elaine
P.S. LOL I have more success researching in England and Scotland than at home here in the US!
The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.
We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:
Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.
We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.
First I have yet to figure out how to use Discord. :-(
I like working on biographies. I have been working on a GEDcom file in the GEDI. I have been adding facts, sources and connecting folks, but what I have done are skeleton biographies with the hope someone (me) will go back and embellish them. I am almost finished with all 16 of my great great grandparents.
I had a very nice collaboration after he pointed out the parents of my GG Grandmother were incorrect. We found her parents and added another twig to his tree. I received a very nice complement on my father's bio (Walling-683). You taught me well, Robin and I love the Sourcer widget.
I hope that answers your questions. I will be in touch!
Elaine
It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!
This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.
We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:
If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general
We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.
Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!
Hi Amy and Happy New Year! I have completed the Tartan Trail and Profile Improvement Project. I have been honing my Bio Building skills on my own family tree and think I could be useful improving profiles. I have studied some on Scottish geography to help with profiles. I alson have dome some work on cleaning GEDcom generated profiles. Point me in a direction that I can be useful!
I like the news letter. I think quarterly maybe sufficient unless there is a lot of project structure activity happening.
FAQ. What is a good source for Scottish geography for folks not in the British Isles?
Wonderful, Elaine! I'm glad you've enjoyed fine-tuning your WikiTree skills and learning about Scottish geography. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your input. I'll also get you added to our Bio Builders team.
You asked me about Military and War subprojects for WWII and the USS Arizona specifically. Yes, there is a subproject for WWII. You can find the details and join the project at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:World_War_II#Related_Projects. There is no sub-project for the USS Arizona so, if you wish, you could start one!!
Hey Mike, thanks for checking in on me. I have been working on GEDcom bios and I like improving them. When ever I hit a glitch or need clarification or just another set of eyes someone from the England project is always there. My English geography is lacking so doing these bios of everyday folks sends me to maps and Wikipedia to understand the lay of the land and learn more. LOL by the time I get to England again, I will have a pretty good map in my head.
I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We have achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.
As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members.
Are you happy to stay in your current project teams? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.
It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around
First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?
Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?
Hi Amy, thank you for reaching out to me. I am doing fine. Fortunately. I live in a rural area and have been able to continue most of my activities. I am currently working on Level III of the Tartan Trail. The lessons I learned on the Orphan Trail have paid dividends. Once I am done with that I will return to English Bio Builders. I like doing the research for the bios of everyday folks. They need their stories told too. The new button for cleaning up GEDCom bios is great. I also have been trying out the new Bio Check. I feel better when I can clean up bios I have created. So I am happy putzing along.
It's good to hear that you're able to keep safe right now! I'm glad that you enjoy working on biographies - they're definitely a great asset to WikiTree.
Feel free to reach out in the future if there's anything I can help you with.
Thank you for your participation in October’s 2020 Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Thanks for the work you accomplished during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.
As a member of the Scotland Project, we'd love to have you join the Twisted Thistles
in the upcoming Connect-a-thon the weekend of July 17 - July 20. If you'd like to join us and help to develop our ever-expanding Scottish tree, please register on the G2G post here
and be sure to mention you'd like to be on the Twisted Thistles team for Scotland.
Hi Jo, I am very happy with my situation. I am so glad I joined the England Project as I have learned a ton that has helped with my own tree and research.
Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for your work on English Profiles and your work in the Gedcom, Biobuilders and Lancashire teams.
These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.
Thanks so very much for your participation in the spring Clean-a-thon! Every suggestion you cleared (over 100!) made our Tree that much better. The WikiTree community appreciates YOU!
I have a brick wall that maybe you southern genealogists can help with. My paternal G G grandfather is John Luna Bishop-9078 born in Tennessee 1834 died in Arkansas 1923. His first wife (my G G grandmother) was Louise. From an application to the Eastern Cherokee Tribe I learned his father was born in North Carolina about 1814 and left there for Tennessee when he was about 14. That is the sum total of my knowledge about John Luna Bishop's family. Any hint would be appreciated.
Hello, I am Carol Hughey, Hughey-1567. George Rossman Hughey was my uncle. I would like to know why you removed his memorial from Find a Grave. Thank you
Hi Carol, you misunderstood the canned comment. When the Find a Grave link was clicked on FaG said, "Memorial was removed, return to website." I searched FaG using surname Hughey, date of death 1923 and location Tennessee. The only profile that came up was Harold Hughey 1923-1923, Obion, Tennessee. This is his FaG mem. # 39815074
I have added your Berryman Jones to the Roll of Honor, Prisoner of War Space Page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Prisoner_of_War.
You did the sticker for Civil War correctly as well as the Roll of honor. Unfortunately, the categories do not add a profile t the Roll of Honor Space page
automatically. It has to be dded manually. While it ilooks great, It is hard to explain in writing, so I added him, and hope you will want to view it in Edit mode, then you will see why I cannot describe in writing how to do it.....
This regards to clan Bell. This what I found on them. Hopefully you can start a Clan Bell but I was told that The Bealls are included in the Clan Bell they are a Alternative spelling for Bell. But I have other Bell too. I love to join Clan Bell. Let me know when set up.
I working on this mess here.
Col. Ninan Beall my 8th grandfather. But wikitree only has Rachel in the deal.
Billie, thanks again for all the websites. You have given me lots to work with. I am like you trying to get me feet wet in the Scotland Project. And, yes, there are several spellings of Bell, Beal, Belle. I am not looking to start a clan just join one. The Clans Project has been taken under the wing of the Scotland Project and Bell Clan is listed with you and Beth listed. I will check with Jackie Prentice. Where are you located?
I am just checking in with you as a member of the Lancashire Team. We are entering the last 8 days of the England regional go Green Challenge reducing the suggestions, unsourced and unconnected numbers. On the 13th the Northern Region were in the lead for the challenge with drop of 16,728!
As your regional cheer leader - I am encouraging everyone to go go go
Hi Janet, I am still learning how to navigate WT communications. I asked to join Lancashire Team at the time Peter was lost. I am at a loss of how to help. I have been doing Bio Building for the England Project. I tried to help with gender corrections with marriages but failed to navigate to the correct page. I really appreciate you reaching out to me. Point me in a specific direction and I am a dog on a bone.
On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Team Member for Lancashire and Bio Builders. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.
Are you happy to stay in your current teams and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?
Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many decendants, coordination is essential. Thanks for joining the ENGLAND,IRELAND,SCOTLAND and UNITED_KINGDOM Projects.
The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group.

2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team

?
Can you let me know which team(s) youd like to join.
We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.
Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please dont assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.
I've added the UK Project badge to your profile and your name to the members interests page of this and the Scots-Irish Ulster Scots Project. Here you can let others know what you are working on.
Thanks for joining, enjoy and good luck with your research.
We don't have a Boarder Reivers project - yet !! Might be interesting to start one. As a Maxwell my ancestors where both Reivers and part of the Ulster Plantation.

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

Obviously these are not geographically limited. I do refer to England Project when working on an English profile. The Orphan Trail was immensely helpful when working with English profiles. My goal is to add as many sources to a profile as available to create a skeleton profile for me or someone to polish later.
I have been attempting to add place categories but either I am not entering the correct words in the correct order or there are not many categories for theses places.
thanks for asking
Elaine
Thanks for the feedback. Your ongoing support for Wikitree is very much appreciated.
If you have questions about the categorisation of England locations, I would recommend that you join us on Discord where one of our England Project members would be able to help. If you would like to do this, please let me know.
Steve
Best wishes,
Maddy, England Project Leader
On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals over the past year. Every English profile we improve helps!
The England Project Leaders are currently doing our six-monthly check-in with all project members.
Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.
Many thanks!
Amelia, England Project Leader
It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project
Elaine
P.S. LOL I have more success researching in England and Scotland than at home here in the US!
If you want to fix the clan sticker on your page, change to this:
User Scottish Clan |tartan = Scotland_-_Clan_Tartans-128.jpg |clan = Clan MacKay
But keep the double curly brackets at both ends. "{"
Cheers, Bobbie
We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.
Sincerely,
Debi Hoag and Robin Shaules Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project
We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.
Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!
I like the news letter. I think quarterly maybe sufficient unless there is a lot of project structure activity happening.
FAQ. What is a good source for Scottish geography for folks not in the British Isles?
The Scotland Project seems to be very well run.
elaine
You asked me about Military and War subprojects for WWII and the USS Arizona specifically. Yes, there is a subproject for WWII. You can find the details and join the project at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:World_War_II#Related_Projects. There is no sub-project for the USS Arizona so, if you wish, you could start one!!
Regards Elaine
Take care Mike
I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We have achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.
As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members. Are you happy to stay in your current project teams? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?
Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future? Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks!
Mike Christmas, England Project Leader
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Amy, Joan & Lizzie.
Elaine
It's good to hear that you're able to keep safe right now! I'm glad that you enjoy working on biographies - they're definitely a great asset to WikiTree.
Feel free to reach out in the future if there's anything I can help you with.
Regards, Amy
Thank you for your participation in October’s 2020 Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Keep up the great work!
Pippin Sheppard WikiTree’s Appreciation Team
Thanks for the work you accomplished during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.
Kind regards,
Pippin Sheppard ~ WikiTree’s Appreciation Team
Elaine
As a member of the Scotland Project, we'd love to have you join the Twisted Thistles in the upcoming Connect-a-thon the weekend of July 17 - July 20. We also have our team Chat page posted here.

Jo
Thanks so very much for your participation in the spring Clean-a-thon! Every suggestion you cleared (over 100!) made our Tree that much better. The WikiTree community appreciates YOU!

Hope this explains it clearly Elaine
I have added your Berryman Jones to the Roll of Honor, Prisoner of War Space Page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Prisoner_of_War. You did the sticker for Civil War correctly as well as the Roll of honor. Unfortunately, the categories do not add a profile t the Roll of Honor Space page automatically. It has to be dded manually. While it ilooks great, It is hard to explain in writing, so I added him, and hope you will want to view it in Edit mode, then you will see why I cannot describe in writing how to do it.....

Many thanks,
Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Congratulations on completing the orphan trail. I have added you name to the England Bio-builders. Our team page is at https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:England_Biography_Builders_Team_Page&public=1 You need not do anything specific, except work on English profiles when you have time. If you have any questions please ask. Regards Joan
Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified.
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many decendants, coordination is essential. Thanks for joining the ENGLAND,IRELAND,SCOTLAND and UNITED_KINGDOM Projects.

Thanks for choosing the Ireland Project.
The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-
? Can you let me know which team(s) youd like to join.
Many thanks,
Maria
Many thanks,
Susie
I've added the UK Project badge to your profile and your name to the members interests page of this and the Scots-Irish Ulster Scots Project. Here you can let others know what you are working on.
Thanks for joining, enjoy and good luck with your research.
Maria
We don't have a Boarder Reivers project - yet !! Might be interesting to start one. As a Maxwell my ancestors where both Reivers and part of the Ulster Plantation.
