Biography

John Clement Tyrell was born 30 Mar 1856 in Ontario, Canada.[1]

John married Margaret Elizabeth Grow 2 Aug 1881 in Bridgehampton, Sanilac County, Michigan. Maggie was 16 1/2. John was 25.[2]

1900 census shows Maggie (age 32) and John Tyrell (age 42) (Misspelled Gyrell) living in Moore Township, Sanilac, Michigan with their children: Albert (age 19), Ray R (age 9 (misspelled Roy), and Stanley A (age 0). Maggie has had 5 children; 3 are living. (Bertha Almeda died 10 Feb 1889 and William Roy died 8 Feb 1889)[3]

1910 census Margaret (age 45) and John Tyrell (age 54) are living in Moore, Sanilac, Michigan with their sons: Albert Tyrell (age 27) and Stanley (age 10). Maggie and John were born in Canada. The boys were born in Michigan. Maggie and John have been married 28 years. Maggie has had 5 children; 3 are living. John is a farmer. Albert is a farm Laborer on home farm.[4]

1920 Margaret (age 54; misspelled Marguerite ) and John Tyrell (age 63) are living with son Stanley (age 19). John and Maggie were both born in Canada. John immigrated in 1879: Maggie immigrated in 1880. Both were naturalized in 1880. John is a farmer. Stanley is a farm laborer on home farm. [5]

1930 Margaret (age 65 ) and John Tyrell (age 76) are living in Moore, Sanilac, Michigan with their son Stanley (age30; misspelled Stamly). John was 25 and Maggie was 17 when they married. Both John and Stanley are farmers.[6]

1940 census Maggie (age 74) and John Tyrell (age 84) living in Moore Township, Sanilac, Michigan with their son Stanley (age 40). They are living in the same house as in 1935. John as completed 6th grade. Maggie has completed 2 years of High School. Stanley has completed 4 years of high school. Stanley is a farmer.[7]

John Tyrell died in 1948. According to his obituary, John Tyrell was Treasurer of Moore Township, served for many years on the Snover School board, and for a time was a Free Methodist Minister before the turn of the century. He was a member of the Snover Free Methodist Church.[8]

He is buried along side his wife Margaret Grow Tyrell in Moore Township Cemetery, Snover, Michigan.[9] Survivors includes two sons: [Tyrell-447|Ray Tyrell]] of Detroit and Stanley Tyrell of Snover.
