Doctor Alexander Stewart Townshend was born in 1841. He was the son of George Townshend and Elizabeth Lucy (Stewart) Townshend.

Alexander married Harriet Fraser KING daughter of Burges KING and Alida YATES on 5 Oct 1864 in Mill Village, NS (now Parrsboro).[1][2]
