Dulcie Muriel Thorley was born on 24 January 1908, at Dubbo, New South Wales.^[1] She is the daughter of William Cecil Thorley (1883-1954) and Adeline Jane Woodley(1884-1937).

Dulcie married John Thomas Holt (1907-1971) on 14 January 1928, at Dubbo, New South Wales.^[2] They had two children. Dulcie and John divorced in 1938.
