Biography

Mary Ann was born 22 Oct 1829 one of 12 children born to Philip Thorley of Mount Thorley, Singleton and Mary Griffiths. Her christening was on 16 March 1834 age 4 at St Peters, Church of England, Richmond, NSW. She married John Joseph Kearney on 2 January 1852 in Mailtland NSW and they had 6-7 Children ??, Mary and john had a Daughter born in 1853 and passed in 1854, but could this daughter been Fanny also born same but shown as 12 months apart ??? Fanny also died..

John died in 1859 and Mary returned home to Mt Thorley where she began teaching, and married George Pitt 6 years older than herself on 16 July 1866 Presbyterian Church, Ashfield, NSW, Australia. they had 3 children. Mary died on 6 Feb 1878 and sometime after George Pitt reared their son but put the 2 Daughters in an orphanage near Maitland after being given a property and a pension for life from Phillip Thorley to care for the 3 Grand Children...

John and Mary' Kerney's son John J j K (2) John jnr ran away from home aged 7-10 to live with his Favorite Aunt Margaret Kearney 2 after being belted for the last time by George Pitt and he never returned, George Pitt was never accepted by the Kearney/Kerney family.
