TERRELL BIBLE RECORDS William S. Terrell was a Baptist Minister in Rapides and Vernon Parishes in the mid-1800s. He constituted the Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Hicks(Vernon) LA in 1869. He was married to Mary Saucier, probably in Mississippi, and the above 13 children were born. After Mary's death, William Terrell married a much younger woman and had 3 additional sons. The second Ms.Terrell and the children lived in Longleaf LA after her husband died, but no information is available on this second family. The Bible is currently owned by O. C. Terrell of West Monroe LA. The date of publication of the Bible was not available. All entries appear to be made by one person in beautiful script handwriting and were transcribed by Jane P. McManus exactly as recorded in the Bible.

William S. Terrell (10 Sep 1815 GA), married ca. 1838/9 to Mary Saucier (21 Sep 1820 MS). The Terrells came from Mississippi to Louisiana by ox cart. They settled in Rapides/Vernon Parish, where they raised their family. William S. Terrell was the minister who constituted the Laurel Hill Baptist Church in 1869. He preached there many times over the years. In 1880 Vernon Parish Census, he was listed as a farmer which was his primary occupation. After his wife died, William Terrell was visiting with a family who had a new baby girl. When he was holding this little girl, he remarked to someone that when she grew up, he was going to marry her. He kept his word, and when that little girl was 13 years old, William married (?) Bellvin and three sons were born. The second Mrs. Terrell lived at Longleaf, LA, long after her husband's death. The issue of William and Mary Terrell: (1) Martha R. (14 Sep 1839); (2) Warren (6 Sep 1842); (3) Morgan F. (1 Jun 1847); (4) David E. (17 May 1848); (5) Josiah P. (21 Jan 1850/12 Nov 1923, Hemphill Star Cemetery); (6) Wiley H. (8 Jul 1851 MS/1918), married Fannie O. (?) (13 Oct 1849/25 Dec 1912), both buried Smith Cemetery; (7) Woodard C.
