Your team!

Our goal is to connect more people on WikiTree by adding missing relatives.

  • Use the Missing Links app to see relatives who might be missing.
  • Start from your Watchlist
  • One of the easiest ways to participate is to work on building out your own family lines. Sometimes we focus so much on our direct lines that we forget about the collateral ones. You can work on building outward, not just upward or downward.
  • Work on your Unconnected Profiles
  • Work at connecting a particular surname.
  • The Needs Profiles Created Category

Other ideas: The Connectors Chat lists the largest unconnected branches on WikiTree, unconnected branches which are particularly challenging, and unconnected notables.

Data Doctors DBE Unconnected has reports for different countries in the world showing unconnected branches.

Scores and progress

When the challenge is live, see this link: Statistics.

Chat - text or video

We have a chat page where you can ask questions or add comments.

More guidance

Main Help page

I recommend the Sourcer app to speed up source formatting.

And for India my go-to sources are:

If you don't find a source after searching, considering adding Research Notes saying where you looked. For example: "Looked for John in the US Census records for 1900-1940 and couldn't find him on FamilySearch or Ancestry." This way the next researcher knows where to start.

Registration

You need to go to [2] in advance to participate. Final registration ends at midnight EDT on the Wednesday before the Thon.

Have Fun!!!

Most of all, have fun with your team! Every little bit that you do improves the health of our global tree. This way you get to meet new friends, and chat with current friends, in the process!

Hey team, a great effort! We ended the connect-a-thon with 165 profiles added, a really big push in getting our India ancestry recorded. The full results are here: https://wikitree.sdms.si/Challenges/ConnectAThon/TeamAndUser.htm

I certainly learned a lot - especially how big some families were. Hope you enjoyed it, and perhaps we can meet again for another challenge? Rob

Great work, keep going :) Rob

Two tortoises, Hertyl and Spertyl, are travelling on a train composed of puzzle pieces. Across their bodies floats a ribbon, upon which are the words "whole profile approach". Along the train itself are the words "We get there in the end". The smoke from the "smokestack" is composed of ever smaller images of the Wikitree DNA "tree" logo.

Hertyl, Spertyl, and Team Toddlin' Tortoises wish you all the best in the upcoming 'thon in July.
