Jacob S. V was born in 1828. He was the son of [[Sovocool-11|George Sovocool] (1795-1862) and Sally (Shoemaker) Sovocool (1798–1891).
Not to be confused with his cousin Jacob Eugene IV (1821-30 Apr 1890) the son of George’s older brother, Johann Solomon “John S. “ and Margaret Shumacher/ Shoemaker, who married Harriet Spaulding (1822-1903). They gave birth to at least (3) children.

Lena V. (Savacool) Ayers (1870–1926), married Rev. A. Clinton Ayers.
Jacob passed away in 1878 and was laid to rest in the Groton Rural Cemetery, Groton, Tompkins County, New York, USA. Ellen, his widow married 2nd Estus Van Marter in 1885.
