Hi M,.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thanks! I just adopted several pre-1700 profiles in my line that were orphaned, so I'll definitely check out the page you linked.

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

By signing the Honor Code you're telling the Wiki community you are a responsible Wiki genealogist.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Have a nice journey on Wikitree,

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

Ok, I see that you have it on your profile at the top. So all is good. Now the harder work begins. You'll need to start adding your parents and grandparents. If they are living, the profile must be closed, but as you get to the long ago ancestors, best to leave them open so others can add information to it. I'm really curious to see how you will connect to the materne lines. If you put matherne at the top where smith is and click search, you'll get a list. Try different spellings. Maybe you will recognize someone in your line.

It says all you have to do is say you've taken a test... I seem to recall it took a day or so before it began to show up on my profile.

Hi! Welcome to WikiTree. Have you looked at the top where it says add? I uploaded my DNA but it's been awhile. If you can't get it done, post here or on G2G (under help) and someone will help you.

I need help unraveling my Matherne line from Louisiana. I have been working on this for years. I can contribute to other lines. I could also use help to break through a wall in my Smith line, but I understand it's probably impossible!

Hello M.,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
