David was born in 1919. He was the son of Paul Smith and Marian Patterson. He passed away in 2008.

SMITH, DAVID P. - Passed away in Santa Rosa, September 8, 2008, at the age of 89. Husband of the late Marie Smith; father of Cass Smith (Barbara Tobin) and Anne (Charlie) Oostdyk; grandfather of Cora, Chuck and Jenny. Also survived by his brother Quentin Smith and sister Betty Abramson. Dave was a man of many interests from astronomy and chemistry to music to history. His studies ranged from chemistry to opera to religion. His careers ranged from Army Officer to teacher to translator. Dave loved people and assumed the best of everyone he met. He leaves behind many friends who will miss him dearly. Memorial gathering will be Sunday, September 28, 2:00 p.m., at the Jewish Community Center, 170 Famers Lane #5, Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sonoma County Council on Aging or the non-profit of your choice.
