Martha Lou Skinner was born on December 19, 1880 in Greenwood, Sebastian, Arkansas, United States, daughter of John David Skinner (1845–1926) and Saylor Hespa Albertin Hardin (1852–1945).[1]
Mattie (19) married Samuel Virgil King (26) (born on January 1, 1873 in Rockford, Coosa, Alabama, USA; son of Adam Asaberry King and Susan Leeanna (Adams) King) on December 24, 1899 in Sebastian.[2][3][4] Their children were:

- Alton Dewit King (1904–1974)
- Arvil Oscar King (1907–1994)
- Sallie Alma King (1908–2008)
