Biography

Hippolyte was born in Bouctouche on 9 Feb 1853. He is the son of Joseph Roy and Henriette Léger. His godparents were Louis Léger and Olive LeBlanc.[1]His mother passed away 2.5 months after his birth and he was adopted by Eustache Poirier and Cécile Léger. He married Marie-Rose Richard, daughter of Hubert Richard and Marie Poirier in Grande-Digue on 24 Jan 1876. The names of his parents and his adoptive father are both shown in the marriage register of the Grande-Digue parish.[2] He passed away in 1911.

  • In the 1871 census Hippolyte was 18 years old and living with his adoptive parents Eustache and Cécile .[3]
  • In the 1881 census Hippolyte was still living with his adoptive parents. Also present were his spouse Marie R. and 2 young children named Willie and Élizabeth.[4]
