Harriet Phillips was born before 1843 in England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of James Phillips and Eliza Belcher.
She migrated to New South Wales (Australia).
Harriet married John Rippon in 1863 in Camden, New South Wales. [1] After living in Camden for some years, the couple moved to Berrima, in the Southern Highlands and then settled in Tallong, near Goulburn. Their family extended to five sons and five daughters, all of whom attained adulthood.
Aged in her fifties, Harriett passed away in 1900 in Moss Vale, New South Wales, Australia. Her parents’ given names were recorded as James and Eliza.[2] failing to see the federation of the British Colonies into the Commonwealth of Australia by just months. She was survived by her husband, who passed twelve years later, all ten children, children-in-law and grandchildren.
Care needs to be taken not to confuse this Harriet and John Rippon with another couple of the same names who lived and raised a family in the Newcastle region of New South Wales at the same time.
