On 15 September 1892, Maria Carmela Patti, age 31 (b. 1861), contadina, daughter of the late Paolo Patti and of the living Carmela Rizzotto; and Francesco Paolo Ficarrotta, age 21 (b. 1871), contadino, son of the late Ciro Ficarrotta and the living Teresa di Miceli; announce their intention to wed to the civil authorities in Corleone; it is published on 18 September.[1] They marry in the Church in Corleone on 9 October.[2]
Francesco Paolo and Maria Carmela have two known children: Therese (c. 1902) and Charley (c. 1904). In the 1920 census, Charley is recorded as being older than Therese.
In 1902, Francesco Paolo emigrates to the port of New Orleans in the United States with his brother, Giovanni. Francesco Paolo is going to join his brother-in-law Leoluca Patti in Patterson, Louisiana.
On the SS Massilia, sailing from Palermo on 24 September 1903 and arriving in New Orleans are a large party from Corleone, all bound for New Orleans:

At home with Frank are his children Charley, 19 (b. 1901), Therese, 18 (b. 1902), and wife Camella, 50 (b. 1870). Frank’s family are all from Italy; they all emigrated in 1901. Frank is a cane and corn farmer who employs others. Charlie is a laborer in cane and corn.
Next door are Matilda Maggiore, 50 (vb. 1870), her husband Philip, 59 (b. 1861), and children Joseph, 19 (b. 1901), Samuel, 16 (b. 1904), and Benjamin, 14 (b. 1906). Philip owns his home. Matilda emigrated in 1899 and Philip in 1897. Their children were born in Louisiana. Philip is a cane and corn farmer who employs others. His sons are laborers in cane and corn.[4] Philip is the brother of Lucia Majuri, Leoluca Patti's wife.
In the 1930 federal census of the 3rd Ward of St. Mary Parish, LA, taken 5 May, Frank Ficarotto, 60 (b. 1870), heads a household with his wife, Mary, 67 (b. 1863). He owns his home, worth $500. They first married at ages 21 (m. 1909) and 28, respectively. Also at home are their children Theresa, 26 (b. 1904), and Charlie, 25 (b. 1905), both single. Frank and Mary were born in Italy and their children in Louisiana. Frank emigrated in 1901 and Mary in 1921. Frank owns a farm.[5]
In the 1940 federal census of Ward 3 in St. Mary Parish, LA, taken 8 June, Frank Ficarotto, 69 (b. 1871), heads a household with his wife, Carmello P., 76 (b. 1864). He owns his home, worth $1,000. Also at home are their children Theresa, 39 (b. 1901), single; Charlie, 36 (b. 1904), and his wife Mary B., 23 (b. 1917), and their son Frank Paul, seven months (b. Dec 1939). Frank, his wife, and children were born in Italy, and his daughter in law and grandson were born in Louisiana. Except for the baby, they all lived here in 1935. Frank operates his own farm and Charlie is a farm laborer.[6]
Carmello Pott Ficarotto dies at age 80 (b. 1862) on 15 January 1942 in Franklin, St. Mary, LA. She was born in Italy, daughter of Paul Pott and Carmello Gullatto (actually, Rizzotto; this is her mother’s surname). Her spouse is Frank Ficarotto.[7]
Frank Paul dies at age 81 on 4 February 1953 in Franklin, St. Mary, LA.[8] He is buried in Franklin Cemetery.[9]
