Leoluca Patti is born and baptized 23 January 1865 in Corleone, named after his paternal grandfather. He is the son of Paolo Patti and Carmela Rizzotto. His godmother is Maria Listi.[1]
His father dies in 1882, at age 71.
Leoluca is 24 (b. 1865), a contadino (peasant), when he marries Lucia Majuri, 19 (b. 1870), contadina, daughter of Giuseppe Majuri and Calogera Catania, on 30 July 1889.[2][3]
Leoluca and Lucia have two known children in Corleone, Carmela (1890) and Paolo (1892), named for Leoluca's parents. They both die in infancy.
Carmela dies on 3 July 1891. She is a year and two months old.[5]
Paolo is born 2 January 1892 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Giovanni Provenzano and his sister, Lucia.[6]
Paolo dies on 9 December 1893 at a year and eleven months of age.[7]
Leoluca and Lucia do not have any more children baptized in Corleone, between 1892-1911.
Early in 1898, Leoluca emigrates to the United States on the Wanderer. A number of passengers from Corleone are on this voyage, all bound for New Orleans. These two appear in series:
In 1902, at least fifty passengers from Corleone emigrate on the SS Citta’ di Napoli, all bound for destinations in Louisiana. Among them is Leoluca's niece, joining her father, Leoluca's brother, Giovanni; and Francesco Paolo Ficarrotta, joining his brother-in-law, Leoluca Patti; both in Patterson, Louisiana, in St. Mary Parish.[9]
Leoluca Patti, son of Paolo Patti and Carmela Rizzotto, dies 30 March 1915. [10]
In 1920, Leoluca's sister, Carmela, and Lucia's brother, Filippo, are neighbors in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana.
