Research Notes

I've been researching this family since about 1970 to present-day with most of the research done from 1970-1975. Several trips were made to Dekalb Co., Tennessee with visits to those that were living at that time. Also much correspondence was done.

We do know when Beda's father, Jacob, died about March 1805, she and her four siblings were listed as minors in his will. Two of her siblings married two Page brothers.

I've also been told by the historian of DeKalb Co., TN and others who were living at this time (early 1970's) that Beda married Joab Parkerson and died before 1838. She had several children and 2 of them are even listed with the Page family on the 1850 census of DeKalb Co., TN.

I'm quite certain that the 1830 census of Smith Co., TN shows her with Joab Parkerson. She was about 5 years older than he was.

However, the father of her first two children, Beadie and Oliver Parkerson father is not really known. They did use the name Parkerson But Joab/Joel would have been too young to have been their father. So was Beadie married first to another Parkerson? possibly a brother to Joel who may have passed away? Were the oldest two children someone else's child and just carried the surname Parkerson after she married Joab? Plus, there is always the possibility that they were illegimate. Right now more research needs to be done regarding their father. FOR NOW, I'm listing them as a child of Joab/Joel Parkerson and Beda Page.

We also know from two different sources that Joab/Joel Parkerson by May 9, 1838 that he had married Loucinda Lucretha 'Creasy' Hullett, the daughter of Willliam Hullett and Rebecca Rice. In her father's will, dated May 9, 1838, she is listed as Lucretha Parkendon (sure this should be Parkerson). Also, a daughter, Elizabeth Jane (Parkerson) Hicks (1846-1903 Davidson Co., TN) listed her parents as J. Parkerson and Creasy (a nickname for Lucretha ) Hullett Parkerson on her death certificate.

My interest in this family as always been the Page-Allen connection as I descend from Beda's brother, Barnabas Page who married Mary Allen.
