Biography

I have read numerous Historical books on our past. Many relating to the settlement of the Ohio Valley and beyond. Archaeologist have determined the lost tribe of Israel made it into the Ruhr Valley of Germany which many of our Ancestors migrated into other areas of Europe. We're all connected in the branches if records can be found. DNA proves that through our genes. Its been a very interesting journey connecting our branches, seeing their troubles and triumphs through life for survival. God has blessed many of us, even the poor folks with a big heart. I served in the US army, in headquarters company at Fort Carson Colorado where I bought my Holy Bible and got started in genealogy when I realized how ignorant I was about my ancestors. The Bible I purchased had a genealogy chart in front and yet it wasn't to large to handle. Currently working on my biography for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. Reading through the "Holy Bible" from front to back and adding profiles to the branches on Wikitree.

Hi,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hey Gary,

Yes! Hallie Workman Blevins was related to my grandfather. Hallie's mother was Alice Porter. Alice was a sister to Rebecca Porter Williamson, my great-grandmother. Hallie and Zeb are buried in the Scott-Blevins cemetery on old Hwy 16 near Lansing in Ashe County NC across from the Shelter Baptist Church. That's also where my grandmother Eva Blevins Williamson is buried as well as her parents, grandparents, brothers, and sisters (except Walter Blevins who is buried in Williamson, WV). I visited that cemetery on my way to my Aunt Lil's funeral a week ago and left flowers for Aunt Lil on her mother's grave marker. There are pictures from the Scott-Blevins Cemetery, the Williamson Cemetery in Wayne County, WV, and from the Fairview Cemetery in Williamson on my FB page at https://www.facebook.com/cassandraleighwilliamson/

I'm going back up to Wayne County this week. The cemetery was overgrown where James and Cassie (Williamson) Williamson are buried. I could not get to the cemetery on Goodman Hollow in Williamson(Chattaroy). There was no path up and it was completely grown over. That one is where my great grandparents, Gideon and Rebecca (Porter) Williamson, are buried. Need to do something about one at a latter date.

Hi Gary,

Willie Lee Williamson, my dad, is buried in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens at Huddy in Pike County. Just below the top level on the right near a black bench is my dad's marker. He was a Seabee in the 1950s. Dad was a scoutmaster with the Forest Hills Ky troop. I think the troop number was 304. He was a long-time contractor in the area who owned Pioneer Welding Company.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Gary

Thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
