Friedrich August was born on 16 APR 1830, in Tucheim, Provinz Sachsen, Preußen. He was the son of weaver Johann Friedrich Noll and Albertine Charlotte Henriette Zimmermann (Mendel).^[3] He was known as 'Friedrich'.

August firstly married Johanne Friederike Wilhelmina Zerbst, who sadly died at the young age of 18.

August from the ships list appears to have emigrated to Australia by himself on the ship Leontine, arriving in South Australia in 1850. The ship sailed from Bremen on the 10th May and arriving in the waters of Port Adelaide late last evening (the 13th August 1850). The ship Leontine, is 650 tons, Ariaans Master, from Bremen.

He secondly married Johanne Helene Nitschke in 1857 in South Australia.^[4]

The couple had at least eight children:
