Biography

Rt Hon Lionel King-Noel was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Lionel Fortescue King-Noel was born on 16 November 1865. He was the son of William King-Noel, the 1st Earl of Lovelace and his second wife Jane Crawford Jenkins. He was baptised at the parish church of St Martin, East Horsley, Surrey on 3 January 1866. ^[1]

He married Lady Edith Anson, daughter of Thomas George Anson, 2nd Earl of Lichfield and Lady Harriett Georgiana Louisa Hamilton, on 29 April 1895. He died on 5 October 1929 at age 63.

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 9th Lancers. He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Northumberland Fusiliers. He succeeded to the title of 10th Lord King, Baron of Ockham, co. Surrey [G.B., 1725] on 28 August 1906. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Viscount Ockham of Ockham, co. Surrey [U.K., 1838] on 28 August 1906. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Earl of Lovelace [U.K., 1838] on 28 August 1906.

On 5 May 1908 his name was legally changed to Lionel Fortescue King by Royal Licence. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Surrey.
