Biography

Jimmie was born in 1904, the daughter of James Morgan and Nannie Shirley.[1] [2] Jimmie married Wade Bolton on the 22nd of September, 1928, in Shelby, Tennessee.[3] She was 23 and Wade was 33 years old.

In 1930[4] the couple were living in the Port of Civil District 8, in Shelby County, Tennessee. They were renting a home valued at $25. Wade (35) is working as a clerk in a hardware store. Jimmie is keeping house and caring for Wade's daughters from his first marriage as well as the couple's son:

  • Mary A. (7) - born 1923 in Tennessee
  • Verley (5) - a daughter born 1925 in Tennessee
  • Jimmie (9 months) - a daughter born 1929 in Tennessee

The family was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1935, and in 1940[5] they were renting a home valued at $25.00 at 645 Elgie Street in Beaumont, Texas. Wade (47) was working as a sanitary engineer, putting in 96 hours the week before the census. He worked 36 weeks in 1939, earing $2000. The census reveals that Wade was a veteran of World War I, and that he had completed high school as well as 5 years of college. Jimmie completed high school. She was keeping house and raising Jimmie, who was now 10. Mary and Beverly were now living with their mother and step-father.[6]

The Charleston West Virginia City Directory for 1949[7] listed the couple living at 616 Randolph. Wade was employed as the area supervisor of the U.S. Public Health Service. In 1950,[8] Jimmie (45) and Wade (57) were living at 616 Randolph Street, Apartment 2, in Charleston, West Virginia. Wade was now a project supervisor for the health department. He worked 40 hours the week before the census. Jimmie was a graduate nurse. (Details provided in Jimmie's obituary.)

Wade died on the 23rd of October, 1951,[9] at the age of 58. He was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, in Abbeville, South Carolina.[10]

Jimmie died on the 8th of November, 1977[11] in Abbeville Memorial Hospital after being ill for several weeks. She was 73 years old. Jimmie was buried with her husband in the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.[12]
