Wade was born in 1893, the son of Dr. Wade Hampton Bolton and Anne Peyton.^[1][2]

Wade completed his World War I registration card at the age of 24. He was single at the time and listed himself as self-employed, with a current occupation as "pharmaceutical chemist - non farming" and 3 years experience working in a hospital environment. Wade stated that he had been in military school for 3 months and had the rank of private. On his registration form Wade claimed an exemption from draft as he had weak eyes and a partial stiff arm.^[3] Despite weak eyes and a stiff arm, Wade enlisted on the 9th of January, 1918, and served until the 1st of August, 1918.^[4][5]

Wade married Marian Frances Greene on the 8th of March, 1920, in Duval, Florida.^[6]

Wade married Jimmie Vey Morgan on the 22nd of September, 1928, in Shelby, Tennessee.^[7][8][9] Jimmie was 23 and Wade was 33 years old. In 1930^[10] the couple were living in the Port of Civil District 8, in Shelby County, Tennessee. They were renting a home valued at $25. Wade (35) is working as a clerk in a hardware store. Jimmie is keeping house and caring for Wade's daughters from his first marriage as well as the couple's son:

• Verley (Beverly) (5) - a daughter born 1925 in Tennessee
• Jimmie (9 months) - a daughter born 1929 in Tennessee

The family was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1935, and in 1940^[11]they were renting a home valued at $25.00 at 645 Elgie Street in Beaumont, Texas. Wade (47) was working as a sanitary engineer, putting in 96 hours the week before the census. He worked 36 weeks in 1939, earing $2000. The census reveals that Wade was a veteran of World War I, and that he had completed high school as well as 5 years of college. Jimmie completed high school. She was keeping house and raising Jimmie, who was now 10. Mary and Beverly were now living with their mother and step-father.^[12]

The Charleston West Virginia City Directory for 1949^[13] listed the couple living at 616 Randolph. Wade was employed as the area supervisor of the U.S. Public Health Service. In 1950,^[14] Jimmie (45) and Wade (57) were living at 616 Randolph Street, Apartment 2, in Charleston, West Virginia. Wade was now a project supervisor for the health department. He worked 40 hours the week before the census.

Wade died on the 23rd of October, 1951,^[15] at the age of 58. The cause of death was coronary trombosis.^[16] Wade had been a traveling lecturer with the U.S. Public Health Service for 30 years. He was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, in Abbeville, South Carolina.^[17]
