Biography

Laura Fisher ... [1]

My parents were very young when I was born. My grandmother raised me with her children. Off and on I lived with my mother, aunts and uncles. At the age of 10/11 my grandparents and I were caught in a grass fire in Sacramento, .CA. We got through, but we're burned trying to walk out of the fire. This is the same time I found out I have a sister. I still have never found her. She was born to my father, J.W. Fisher and a woman by the name of Donna. Her name is Kristina and she would have been born about 1963, in Pueblo or Denver, CO. I ask everyone to help me find her. I am 65, and I have had a heart attack. Please help me find Kristina. I met Arnold "Fred" Clark when I was 17 years old. He was a sailor stationed at NAS Whidbey in Washington State. We fell in love immediately and I returned to Sacramento after summer vacation was over. We wrote letters and he would call me at least once a week. I went back to high school for my senior year in September of 1970. He wanted to come down to visit me and meet my family. We decided that he could make it around the 3rd week of October before the snow falls in the mountains, and he was on leave. But before he left Whidbey Island, he told me he was bringing me back. I took it as a proposal and we made plans to marry on October 21st in Carson City, Nevada. Since I was only 17 I had to have one of my parents sign for me. My mother was in Pennsylvania with her new family and I had to have one of my aunts help me find my father. Dad signed for me and bought my dress (K-Mart). I was in love so I did not notice how poor we were. With both of us being so young neither one of us made good decisions. In January 1989 I divorced Fred. I moved back to Sacramento, volunteered at UCDMC in exchange for training as an EKG technician and then worked at Sutter Heart Institute. Our daughters were grown and the oldest daughter was married at having her own child, my first grandson. It hurt so bad that I was not with the girls, so by December of 1991 I moved back. It was difficult to say the least, but Fred and I got back together. So on October 21, 1997 we flew down to Reno with our families in tow and got remarried at Mt Rose (Ponderosa Ranch). Fred and I moved to a small town called Irrigon, Oregon where we lived from 1997 to 2012. Fred built homes with our oldest daughter and her husband, and I drew up the house plans. Our youngest daughter graduated from Oregon State University as a Construction Management Engineer and started her own business with her dad in Washington State. Clark Construction still exists to this day on Bainbridge Island. In 2009 Fred lost his father to a massive stroke. His mother was left alone and unable to get around by herself. We sold my business and Fred retired from construction. In 2012 we moved to Fernley, NV to purchase a home (investment purposes) and we brought his mother with us. Fred's mother was going through some issues at this time, as well as my mother that had been diagnosed with Alzhiemer's Disease. We closed on the house in July and my mother passed away on August 5th 2012. We had no idea at this time that Fred's forgetfulness was trying to tell us these are symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease. In 2015 the straw that broke the camel's back came at us with a rush of wind. April 28th 2015 was the day I had my heart attack. Poor Fred had no idea what to do. Both daughters came down to help. Fred wanted us to sell the house and move back to Oregon where he could go hunting and fishing and ultimately turn back the hands of time , which we all know is impossible. After getting Fred's diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease I finally agreed that I needed help and support for Fred. We moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington with our daughter, her husband and his mother. This next paragraph brings me up to date so far. Fred is now in a memory care facility and we visit him all the time. I have Osteo porosis, and arthritis is creeping in.

Hi Laura,

I sent you a private message on 9 June 2021 about your request to take the Profile Improvement Project's PIP Voyage. I am following up as I haven't heard from you. Did you receive my message?

I have been so very busy lately. Lost my uncle due to Covid the day before my rotator cuff surgery. Went to spend a week with daughter and followed up with a trip to Sacramento for uncles memorial. Came home sick with upper respiratory infection. This has taken me about 10 days to get over. This morning I am having my first cup of coffee planning to fly to Vegas this afternoon to see my grandson that lives in Georgia that I haven’t seen in 5 years. That has kept me busy. I think I have time in July to take the voyage and learn how to do the profiles. August too. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this.

Hello, Debi

I have just got to the point where I am starting to do more with Wiki Tree. I want to join the Appalacian project for Walker County, AL. I also just reworded my bio as well as my husband's. There is also the October marriage project that I am trying to include as well as the other projects. I am so wordy the bios are not as good as they should be. I would also like to know the difference between a bio and a profile. I am ready to start the profile project. So I need major help with that. I have changed my privacy choices so people can see my bio and tree. What else do I need to do? Laura

Hi Laura,

Welcome back. A profile is a full page with names, connections, dates, places, etc. The biography is the written portion of the profile page that tells about the person's life and includes the sources that were used as evidence for the biography.

I'll get you moved back to the waiting for a Guide list on the Profile Improvement Project. There should be information on the specific pages about joining the other Projects that you are interested in.

Your profile is private so no one can see your parents unless you add them to your Trusted list.

I am looking at your profile today because your DNA is on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Anderson-2565 's profile along with my maternal uncle. I would love to compare with you. Thank you

Hey Laura,

Can you share your fathers profile link with me please? I tried looking for him but if his profile isn't public I won't be able to help you.

BUT - I can point you in the right direction!
