Biography

Lura Mae Morgan was born on April 11, 1906, in Oakland, Mississippi. She was the daughter of John and Virgie (Virginia Lee Lance) Morgan. She married George Winn Vicory about 1925 in Jackson, Mississippi. They had two children during their marriage. She died on March 8, 1993, in Jackson, at the age of 86, and was buried there.

Lura Mae Vicory, 86, of Dexter Drive, a homemaker, died of heart failure Monday at Pleasant Hills Nursing Home.

Services are 11 a.m. today at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

An Oakland native, Mrs. Vicory moved to Jackson in 1928. She attended Hillman College in Clinton. She was a past matron of the Radiant Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughter, Maxine Garrett of Jackson; brother, Biram Morgan of Orland, Fla; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church.
