Biography

Thomas Morgan was born about 1729 at Chester, Pennsylvania, Colonial America. He was the son of Thomas Morgan and Lettice Evans. Thomas was named in the Will of his father written 1 April 1774, Bedford County, Virginia.^[1]

In 1750, Thomas moved with his parents to Lunenburg County, Virginia. Thomas Morgin, Thomas Morgin, Junr., and Lewis Morgin are on a list of Tithes for the section of Falling River and upwards in Lunenburg county, west of Goose Creek. This part of Lunenburg became Bedford County in 1754.

Thomas and his wife, Susannah "Hannah", lived on the Bedford County farm (previously owned by his father Thomas Morgan) and raised five children.

On 25 April 1774, Thomas Morgan, Jr. acquired an unspecified amount of land (probably 400 acres purchased by his father in 1764) on Goose Creek, Bedford, from Thomas Morgan, Sr. and wife Hester for 40 pounds.^[2] On 25 February 1775, Thomas and Hannah Morgan sold 101 acres of land on Goose Creek to Elisha Hunt.^[3] During July 1776, Thomas and Hannah sold 101 acres of land on Goose Creek to Uriah Squires.^[4] He late sold land to Reese Morgan, Sr. in 1807 and Reese Morgan, Jr. in 1809.

His children were married in Bedford:

Thomas Morgan passed away after 1810 when he is listed living alone on the US Census in Bedford County, Virginia, near his brother Mordecai Morgan.^[6]
