Biography

Allen P. Morgan was the son of John Morgan and Mary Amanda Rice. He married on January 25, 1871, to Eliza H. Mosley. He was a prominent business man in Atlanta, a wholesale merchant of grain.

Allen Morgan was one of the first members of the Atlanta Board of Education after Oakland City was annexed by Atlanta. At one time he was mayor of Oakland City and for many years served on its general council.

At the age of 72, Mr. Morgan was struck down by a taxicab as he crossed a street near his home. He was survived by two sons and two daughters.
