1850 Census of Clarke County, Alabama, lists Thomas Moody, age 91, born Virginia, living in household of daughter, Temperance Moody Lyles. Dr. Thomas Moody (1759) died on September 25, 1855 at Bethel Community, near Bashi in Clarke County. Bashi is the community where Dr. Thomas had his medical practice. For many years Marie Wilkerson of Montgomery, Alabama, a descendant of Dr. Thomas through John Wyatt Moody and Francis Winfred Moodie, searched for his gravesite. Finally, on November 25, 1981, she found his place of burial, which was in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Clay Hill Community, on the border of Clarke and Marengo Counties, Alabama. On his marker was written the epitaph "Mark the perfect man and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace." A plaque placed by the Elizabeth Bradford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution indicates that he was a Revolutionary soldier, 1777-1780. Next to Dr. Thomas' grave is the marker for his daughter, Lucinda Moody Andoe who died two years after him almost to the day, "age 56 years, 9 months and 1 day." Affidavit of George N. Lyles, Jan. 31, 1853, in Clarke County, Alabama, saying, "George N. Lyles of the County of Marengo and state (Alabama) aforesaid. . .says that he has been acquainted with Thomas Moody since the year 1817; that the said Thos. Moody was fond of conversing about the War of the Revolution, talked about it repeatedly; that Thomas Moody always said and told that one Jack Cook drove his waggon at & before the Battle of Camden & that he himself was doing duty as a soldier under General Gates & in his army, that the said waggon was pressed into the service of the Army of the United States & that he never received any pay for it."]]
Dr.Thomas Moody is buried at the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery located just over the Marengo County line in Clarke County on County Road 37. This road is called the Ole Dixon's Mills road in Clay Hill, Clark, Alabama

I am very interested in your note on a John Moody in Oglethorpe county GA., with sons John and Thomas and a daughter Martha. I feel this is the particular John Moody I have been looking for but have not been able to find a correct tree. My 4th Great Grandfather Benjamin Smith married Martha Moody. At some point in 1829 John deeded a negro women to his niece. This is what I found in an archive document http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/oglethorpe/deeds/smithdds.txt
Book N, p. 161
Dec. 30, 1829
John W. Moody to nease (sic) Susan Ann Smith dau. of Benjamin & Martha
Smith a Negro girl named Allethea. Is she should die, goes to her
sister Sarah Stokes and if she should die, goes to youngest son of
Benjamin & Martha Smith, Thomas C. Smith.

I find a lot of trees that show Capt Frances Moody as the father of Martha Moody, if he is, it isn't the Martha Moody with a brother John.
Hello Andrea:
I have been researching my ancestors and I have found a book that states that my 4th great grandmother Sarah Moody (Moody-6569) is the daughter of Thomas Moody (your Moody-2646) and Mary Ann Young, The book, The John Wyatt Moody Family Past and Present is listed as a source on both the Thomas Moody and Mary Ann Young profiles, and references Sarah on pages 12 and 22.
I see that the other children listed for Thomas and Mary agree with those listed in the book: John, Nancy, Benjamin, Lucinda, William and Elizabeth. But Sarah is not included. Is there some reason to believe that Sarah is not their child? Or is the list of children just incomplete?
