Biography

Francis J. Metcalfe was born June 9, 1850, in Morristown, New Jersey. He was the son of Dr. John T. Metcalfe of Bellevue Hospital, New York.

He graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, at age 21. Dr. Metcalfe was an allopath.^[1] He lived in Europe, especially in Florence, where he treated American residents and tourists.^[2]

He died February 9, 1892, in Florence, Italy.^[2] He was buried in plot 2PPsSG IV 13s of Cimitero Evangelico degli Allori in Florence, Città Metropolitana di Firenze, Toscana, Italy.^[3]
