Biography

Dorothy Cleveland Maude was born on 21 February 1880 at Highbury in Middlesex. She was the daughter of Richard Maude and Edith Harris. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]}

In 1891 Dorothy Maude was living at 79 Oakley Road in Islington with her parents, Richard and Edith, and their other children. Her age was given as 11, implying a birth date in 1879 or 1880. Her birthplace was given as Highbury, London. She was at school. ^[2]

Dorothy was baptised, along with her 2 sisters, at Holy Trinity church in Marylebone Road on 12 February 1893, as the daughter of Richard Watson and Edith Cooke Maude, of 24 Osnaburgh Street. Her father was described as an agent. ^[3]

George Frederick Ide, bachelor, aged 27, an actor, of 21 Compton Terrace, son of George Ide (deceased), engineer; and Dorothy Cleveland Maude, spinster, aged 20, of 5 Millman Street, Bedford Row, daughter of Richard Watson Maude, theatrical manager; were married at the parish church of St Giles in the Fields in London on 31 May 1902. ^[4]

In 1911 Dorothy Ide was living at 48 Cooks Road in Kennington in south London with her husband George Frederick Ide. Her age was given as 26, implying a birth date in 1884 or 1885. Her birthplace was given as Malta [This is not easy to account for.] She was an actress and vocalist. It was stated that George and Dorothy had been married for 9 complete years, and they had had no children. ^[5]

Dorothy Cleveland Ide died in 1943, at the age of 62. ^[6]
