Marcy Jane Lucas was born December 25th. Some of her descendants claim that the year was 1814, but census records consistently show that she was born in either 1811 or 1812.
She married first John H. Williams, on 10 Feb 1831 in Sangamon County, Illinois. They had six children: Amanda, Sarah Angeline, Polly, Elizabeth, Wm. George, and Mary Ann.
After John's death in 1844 in Illinois, she married Henry Barney, in 1846 or 1847. Records confirm three children for Marcy & Henry: Alma, Jacob Henry, and Marcy. Some descendants claim there were two more children, who died young: a Malissa and a Rose Ann, but these are unsourced.
They emigrated from Illinois to Utah, traveling with the Warren Foote company and arriving there on 17 Sep 1850.[1] They were on the Utah, Utah census in 1850.[2]
She and Henry and three children were on the 1860 Virgin City, Washington county, Utah census.[3]
There is some confusion about her exact date of birth (tombstone incorrectly lists 25 Dec 1802, censuses suggest 1812, the Mormon pioneer database suggests 1814). There is also confusion about whether her date of death was 1886 (tombstone) or 1896 (Mormon pioneer database). Apparently the tombstone was placed long after her death, by someone who didn't get the dates right.

Marcy Jane should be just 18 degrees from Arthur Clarke tomorrow, where she is 28 degrees now. I found a shortcut through some LDS families back to Somerset, England.
Lucas-115 and Lucas-621 appear to represent the same person because: I'm new to WikiTree but have over 40 years of experience as an avid genealogist. I adopted this orphaned profile, Lucas-115, then while checking whether her parents were already on WikiTree, I found the duplicate for Marcy Jane Lucas (Lucas-621). Because 115 is more complete and has biography & notes, I propose keeping Lucas-115 and merging the other into it. They are obviously the same person (same parents, same spouses, same death date & location, same birth date & location except that the birth year differs by a year. Her gravestone is wildly inaccurate (shows her birth as 1802, Dec 25, and death as 1886, Mar 20) so that isn't a good source in her case since it was carved long after the fact. But several censuses when taken together can probably be trusted. She was age 37 in 1850, 47 in 1860, 57 in 1870, and 68 in 1880, so was almost certainly born in 1812, Dec 25, rather than in 1813. Because her birthday was at the end of the year, she wouldn't have turned 38 yet until December, so was still 37 when the census was taken. Same thing applies for her listed age 1860 and 1870 (evidence that she was born in 1812).
