Hi Travis, Thank you for joining the March/April Vicksburg National Cemetery Challenge. We had thirteen members who created 1,583 Profiles, which is pretty great for 13 members. It was a very successful Challenge.
Travis LeMaster created profiles in March & April 2024 US Civil War Project Vicksburg National Cemetery Challenge.

Hello Travis,

We are happy you came back to the Northwest Terriers for April's Connect-a-thon. As of this writing, you have contributed 17 profiles. Join us on the Discord channel or the G2G Team Chat page for any questions, comments, or just for fun chatting.

Remember, you must have at least one valid source for each profile you create. The source is the identification of where you obtained information. A family tree is not a source.

See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources for the methods used for sourcing if needed.

Scoring results can be found here.

Thanks for your help!!

Travis, thank you for remaining in the project. There are a lot of things you can get involved in, depending on what you like to do, we have Challenges almost every month or if you click on the Project link, you can find Maintaince Categories that always need work, or there are space pages where help is needed. It all depends on what area you enjoy working in. Pam

Hello Travis,

I just connected some ancestors of your wife, starting with Henry Wild (1851-1896). He came from Laisa -- my home village! -- and I have researched the families of that place and the surrounding villages (see my page Space:Church_records_of_the_Amt_Battenberg).

If you have questions, just send me a private message.

Best, Daniel Bamberger

Hello Daniel,

Nice to meet you! You've done an amazing amount of research in Laisa!

Hopefully, my daughter will become interested in her family history - and your information is a great start.

Thanks again, Travis

I hope so, too!

One question: Henry Wild is categorized as a murderer on his WikiTree page. May I ask what that's about?

Best wishes, Daniel

posted by Daniel Bamberger
Unfortunately, Henry shot his wife in a drunken rage and then committed suicide. I have some articles about it, will update the profile later. Very sad situation. The children were split up with relatives, later spelling of the surname added a "t".
posted by Travis LeMaster
That's a sad story, indeed. Thanks for the additional edits to Henry's profile!
posted by Daniel Bamberger
By the way, I have added Henry's siblings, aunts and uncles, and noticed that his sister Sophia (born in 1853, Wild-3604) already had a WikiTree profile, Wild-2672. The profile manager is a direct descendant. I have proposed to merge the two profiles.

One brother Michael (born in 1836, Wild-3598) fell in 1863 as a soldier in the Civil War, according to an addendum in his baptism record, added by the pastor in 1872. It is apparent that the family still had contact to their relatives in Germany at that point. The brother Friedrich (born in 1833, Wild-3597) moved to Buckskin, Indiana. What became of the last surviving brother Ludwig (born in 1840) is unclear.

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers.

Hello Travis,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hello Travis,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
