Born and raised in Northeastern Illinois near Lake Michigan. As I like to tell people, I’m the only Yankee in a family full of Southerners. I also like to say that I’m a Yankee by birth but Southern by blood. I have two older brothers who were in junior high and high school when I popped into the world.

I am a member of the Appalachia Project, specifically the Southern Team which add, source, connect and sticker profiles for the people of the states of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.

I am also a member of the Stone One Name Study.

Hi Donna, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a marvelous New Year.

The Annual US Civil War January Challenge is to connect US Civil War Soldiers for the January Connect-a-Thon. This year will be a twist of what I usually do. Instead of you choosing a "Surname Letter", you will be choosing from a block of soldiers whom I've already screened that show they have family to connect. Each soldier has a connection to one or more of his immediate family--parents, siblings, spouses, children, on their profile. Whether you work on one soldier or your whole block of soldiers, it's one step closer in our goal to connect each of our US Civil War Soldiers. The goal is to make sure all these soldiers are connected at least by one or two degrees. You can sign up now by clicking this link: US Civil War Sign-up Chart

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery has now been completed, every soldier who died as a POW in Camp Chase now has a profile on WikiTree. Plus, we've improved many of the Find-a-Grave memorial pages by finding duplicates, putting in merges, and adding military records to the Biographies. Thank you Donna for all you do for the Challenges and for the US Civil War Project.

Hello Donna,

I noticed that we have a DNA Match on Elizabeth Williams-17198 profile. I looked at your tree here on WIKI but could not figure out how we are connected. Could you look at my tree on Ancestry and see if you can see where our Williams intersect? https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/6989691/person/-1187404128/facts

Thank you, Mary
