Biography

Found Drowned. -- About one o'clock yesterday, a lad looking over the side of a schooner at Stayner's Wharf, saw through the water, which was unusually still and clear at the time, a pair of boots, as he thought, at the bottom and afterwards the appearance of a human body. An alarm was given, help was soon obtained, and the body of a man was raised from the water, where it appeared to have lain a long time, as the hair was quite gone, the features quite wasted, and other parts entirely worn away. From the clothing, however, and other general marks, it was recognized as the body of Louis Knickel of Lunenburg, who disappeared so mysteriously about three weeks ago and who must have fallen over the wharf at night, and drowned unnoticed. The body was removed to the Poor's Asylum, where a coroner's inquest was held, and a verdict returned in accordance with the main facts.^[1][2]
