Biography

William King was born in 1661, the son of Samuel King and Frances Ludlam.^[1] He married Abigail Browne, daughter of Lieut. Richard Browne and Hannah King, in 1687.^[1]

After Abigail's death in 1716,^[1][2] William married Susannah Crook in 1717.^[1][2]

He died in 1740.^[1][2]

His will, ^[3] dated 29 February 1740, refers to "my endeared wife Susanah" and leaves land in "Oyster Ponds, Lower Neck" to his sons William and John. Oyster Ponds is the former name of Orient, New York. His son John, one of three named executors, died after the date of the will and before it was proved 11 June 1740.
