Robert George King was born in about 1855 in St Helens, Lancashire. He was the son of John King and Ann (Lester) King. His birth was registered in the first quarter of 1855, in Prescot district, as Robert George King. He was christened on 14 Jan 1855 in St Helens, as George King.
Robert married Mary Elizabeth Johnson on 29 Dec 1879 at St Thomas' Church in Lydiate, Lancashire. Both were of full age (21 or more) and living in Lydiate, and neither had been married before. Robert was a carter. Their fathers were named as John King (glass maker) and Thomas Johnson (labourer). The witnesses were Thomas Johnson and Betsy Johnson.
Their son Robert George King was born in about 1888 in St Helens; his birth was registered in the first quarter of the year, in Prescot district.
